The final for the 400 meter freestyle at the Paris Olympics was billed as “The Race of the Century.” Katie Ledecky, Ariarne Titmus (Australia) and Summer McIntosh (Canada) had each held the world record in the event over the last two plus years.
The race lived up to the hype with the three favorites battling it out. Titmus (3:57:49) defended her title (she won gold in Tokyo in 2021) beating McIntosh (3:58:37) and Ledecky (4:00:86) who settled for a bronze medal.
